Is Custom Code really free?expand_more
Yes. The plugin on WordPress.org is complete: all snippet types, every location, conditions, test mode, crash protection, the activity log, import and export, and 100+ library snippets. Nothing in it expires, and features never move from free to Pro.
What happens if a PHP snippet breaks my site?expand_more
PHP is checked for errors before it is saved. If a snippet still crashes a page, Custom Code switches that snippet off on the spot and shows you the error with its line number. Settings also gives you a secret safe-mode link that turns every snippet off, even when you cannot reach the admin.
How does the AI work, and what does it cost?expand_more
The AI writer, explainer and fixer run on Claude through the WALoops AI service. Free sites get a small monthly allowance (about 20 requests), Pro sites get $2 of AI a month (150+ requests), and you can add your own Anthropic API key in Settings for no limit from us.
What does the AI service receive?expand_more
The text of your request, the code you ask about, and basic facts about your site (WordPress, PHP, theme and main plugin names) so the code fits. Prompts are not stored; we keep the token counts for the allowance. See the Custom Code privacy page for details.
Will my snippets slow the site down?expand_more
No. Snippets are compiled into small files in your uploads folder, so the front end runs no extra database queries. CSS and JS can load as cacheable files, and scripts can wait until the visitor interacts.
I have snippets in WPCode or Code Snippets. Can I move them?expand_more
Yes. Import / Export lists the snippets of WPCode, Code Snippets, Header Footer Code Manager and Simple Custom CSS and JS on your site and imports them switched off, so you can check each one before turning it on.
What happens when my Pro license ends?expand_more
Your snippets keep running, including ones that use Pro conditions. Pro library snippets, the Pro AI allowance, the cloud library and updates stop until you renew.
What is the difference between Pro and Agency?expand_more
The features are the same. Pro is for 1 site; Agency covers up to 25 sites, each with its own $2 of AI a month, and one cloud library for all of them.
